Merry Christmas!

Howdy folks, Rayuzaki has returned and with a truck load of Christmas cheer, so hold on to your little elf hats and read on.

I'd like to start by thanking everyone I know, and to everyone I don't who actually take the time out of their lives to actually read this, I understand it's probably not that riveting or exciting, but I enjoy making these blogs and reporting on what I'm up to, even If I've not actually done a lot in the last while it's nice to vent this stuff, makes it seem like it's actually interesting anyways.

So the festive season is upon us, I've actually done all my shopping, wrapped my presents, watched Muppet's Christmas Carol, and tomorrow is my last day at work and then I'm on vacation. That means some srs Hobby tiems lek! I'll maybe even try and squeeze in an apocalypse game in over the festive season. So Chilly, one of my mates has arrived home and Bremy another who lives away from us here in the cold Chaos Wastes, arrives tomorrow too so we'll all get to hang out and enjoy the festivities. The next 2 weeks will see me, partying, enjoying and relaxing a lot with my friends and family, as I'm sure everyone does, so while it's pretty standard and doesn't seem that major, it's a big deal to me. I may not always seem like the cheeriest bugger, but dammit I love the festive season, everyone comes home, has fun, forgets all the troubles and ills that are floating around and revert to their happier selves. Not only that but it gives us all a much needed break and reminds us of just how lucky we are, and of how lucky I am. So guys and my family, I wish you the Merriest Christmas and Happiest New Year I can. And to all you readers, I wish you the same fond wishes and festive cheer.

Anyways, you thought I'd escaped without doing any work again didn't you? Well you'd almost be right, but alas, I have done some work. I've upgraded my Possessed squad from 5 to 10 and built them, I've built all my Bikes and Obliterators, and I've even started work on my Dark Apostle to lead the host. I'm also looking into potential models to act as my First Acolyte, Icon Bearer and Coryphaus (Although my Termie Lord may suffice there.)

My Dark Apostle will use the Space Marine Terminator Chaplain as a base and with some minor modification should come out looking quite nifty, for my First Acolyte I intend to use the Chaos Space Marine Lord model (shown below) as it, also my First Acolyte will suffice as a standard lord in smaller points games. My Icon Bearer will probably be left until I make a Chosen squad as I like the idea of him leading it.

Finally I'm starting to try and track down models for an undivided Daemon Prince but to no success yet, if anyone has any reccomendations for this besides the GW ones please post or E-Mail me.

Anyways I sort of drifted off track there, so remember, I hope that big jolly red fella, Saint Nick, brings you whatever you want or need this christmas and that you share and recieve with equal gratitude and good will, also Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and have a wonderful time off and remember 'to honor christmas in your heart, and to keep it all year.'

Suprising that I'm good with Word's eh? Now Spread it.

The Metal!

Howdy folks, back from the brink once again to bring you exciting news and painting updates...... oh wait. Nope.

So the last 2 weeks I've been back on 12 hour shifts.... which means lack of painting, but thatnkfully before that slog of work began I was able to go down with some mates for the weekend to see Sabaton and Dragonforce in the Iron Works in Inverness.

Truly an awesome gig and a much better way of spending my weekend I must admit..... painting your army... pfft I say.

So the gig was awesome, I met a very nice man we dubbed 'Gandalf the Metal and Thor' this guy (Shown above) is epic enough to deserve both those titles. Also I got to meet one or two of the members of Sabaton in a bar called Hootenanny in Inverness, much awesomeness insued.

So once again I've dodged some painting and not really informed you of much but my almost interesting life. Thats not strictly true, next Febuary is one of my close friends 50th Birthday and one of the people responsible for my true love of Warhammer in general, so in his honor we intend to do a large scale fantasy game. This wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't given my sizeable dwarf army away to a friend, leaving me with no army, I decided then to buy a massive amount of Orc's and Gobbo's and use those a few months ago, and now that we draw close and for the game everything must be painted, I'm now s***ting myself that I won't get it done, but now that I'm not going to be in Glorius Scotland during January/Febuary I probably won't manage to take part anyways, Although I've painted 10 Spider Riders which I might post on another date.

So for now once I get off shift that is, I'll be back to work on my Chaos Vindicator asap as per the painting poll. Also I've built my bikes but I've not managed to build.... you guessed it.... my All Metal Obliterators.

Metal Models are the bane of my GW related exsistance and will forever haunt my destiny.... oh also another thing which has annoyed me and consumed my time is Magna Carta 2, if any game gets you into a mood to ragequit it will be that one. Thank god for CoD or I'd probably have killed.... again.

Peace out, 'Hey again Alana!!!' and remember to spread the word, also the butter or your toast will taste awful.

Conquered the Word!

Okies, It's been a while, so I'm going to re-cap a little.

A few weeks ago we had a small tournament to decide, who would be the commander for the forces of order and disorder for a planet strike campaign, after a decent run of games, I was chosen as the Disorder leader and my mate Dom as the Order leader.

So last weekend we had the campaign, and safe to say, the forces of disorder are now in control of the planet. The campaign was set up so that there were 3 tables, 2 tables with 6000pts per side and a central table with 8000pts per side. (So 20000 points per force, roughly.)

So the commanders split up the forces equally and created a rough game plan for their forces, the first 6000pts table, was a daemon summoning in a ruin in a dense forested area (Disorder defending mission.) This table, featured a large Khorne force against a force of Grey Knights, Space Marines and Imperial Guard. This table went quite well for the Chaos forces after roughly 15 Grey Knight terminators and their glorious leader, deepstriked and died in a less than spectacular assault on the ruin. This led to a victory for the forces of Disorder.

The second table was an Imperial Basilisk battery defending trenches on the outskirts of the central city. (Order Defending mission.) This table featured, Tau and Imperial Guard trying to hold off the immense horde of Tyranids, after an absolute barrage of shooting prowess, the Tyranid hive fleet was driven back, leading to a victory for the forces of Order. (Boo!)

The third table, was a neutral table (no attackers or defenders), simply put, this was a plant a banner in the central of the planet, the longest time spent standing in the centre, declared the winner. This was where I featured with the Word Bearers and a size able Slaanesh CSM force against Space Wolves, Salamanders, Eldar, Dark Angels and Tau. After an early rush from the forces of order they managed to get their standard bearer onto the central objective, but was gunned down before he could plant it, and after some defiler barrages and vindicator support the centre was clear for the daemonic hordes to reach the middle and plant the flag, also grabbing the Order banner and sneaking it back to some dank infested pit to defile and enjoy later. This lead to a spectacular victory for the forces of Disorder, despite being heavily outnumbered.

So the forces of Disorder claimed the planet and an enjoyable weekend was had, as you can see from the photo's found here: *Coming Soon*

Also, now I bet your thinking, he hasn't painted anything and while he is the best and most handsome commander ever, he's gotten away without painting again! Well suck this true believers!

Now I bet your thinking.... WTF? but don't worry all will become clear soon, also my Vindicator won the poll, so it will be painted next, so please keep reading and don't forget to..... aah you know the rest by now.....

Work or Word?

Hello again mes ami's. So it's time for another blog, well I should say its about time I get one done. Yet again I've a rather particularly handy excuse for my sloth, hey I always do.

Work. That thing you need to do to get money to buy the shiny devices that you want, for me in particular right now, it's to get me more Warhammer, in particular doing what I can to get my Orc's and Gobbo's going, and continuing to build up these Word Bearers.

So I've been working a lot of overtime lately, (Pink days on the calendar.) see I don't just make that stuff up. So it's taken away a fair bit of my time, time I should be painting obviously. So I worked this weekend, both days, and meant I was too lethargic to bother myself to paint. So I didn't get a lot done, but now it's Monday again and I'm back into the swing of it, and I've finally finished the second Word Bearers Marine squad, I've gone for a slightly brighter tint of red with these, as I don't want every squad to look identical. Anyways you can check them out below, follow the link-age. Also these are quite poor as they were taken with my Dad's Camera as mines was rather dead, I'll take some ones in daylight with my camera but for now, you get the idea.....

Check Em Out!: Word Bearers Squad 2

However, I now need to up the ante, I have a very large scale fantasy game coming up in February and it's fully painted armies only. So I've nearly 2000 points at least (not got an exact count yet) of Orc's and Gobbo's to paint, also I'd hope to have these guys done before then, although I can't see it happening much. Also as of January, I'll be away for 8 weeks on a work related course in England, meaning I'll be unavailable for painting etc, although I'm sure I can squeeze a squad or two with me and some paints, will see. So as you can tell I've got my work cut out for me, and to add to that I've got even more overtime coming up in December, meaning.... correct-a-mun-do. Less painting time, so apologies for my low blogging speed over the coming months, but I'll be here, trust me...... the Word has to get out there.

Getting A Word In.

So, it's been a week now since my last post, so I figured it was time to bring you up to speed with whats been going on.

I spent the first part of this week finishing up 5 Word bearers of my next squad, only 2 and a bit more marines and I'll be posting them up, so look forward to that. Then I spent the rest of the time fixing up the rest of my unpainted word bearers, as some of them are old csm's built by a friend I bought them from, so I had to trip a few shoulder pads off to put the word bearers shoulder pads as well as changing a few weapons to make my squads make sense.

The way I've been doing my Word Bearers squads are 10 models made up of:
1 model with Icon, 1 Aspiring champion (Power weapon or fist), 2 Special weapons models, 3 models wielding bolters and 3 models with bolt pistols and close combat weapons.

I do it this way so all my weapons are on display and it looks good. Also once I get one more set of 10 Chaos Space Marines, I'll have 60 (maximum normally allowed) and I'll have the set up where I'll have:

2 squads with 2 plasma's, 2 squads with 2 melta's, 2 squads with 2 flamers, 3 AC's with Power Fists and 3 AC's with Power Weapons. All of the squads will have an Icon of Chaos Glory also, this means that I can have any combination of weapons as and when I need them. Now I know what most will say, what about heavy weapons..... well I've never put them in a standard CSM squad and never will, and if I ever decide to, I'd just use my havoc's if I weren't using them :D

So once I'd finished working it all out and correcting it, I took a well earned break, and bought myself a well earned treat. The new Mega Paint set. Which I couldn't be any happier with, great value and storage, although arriving the day after my usual hobby night (Thursday) sucked :P

So my hobby night was spent touching up some word bearers and watching some mates play D&D, I had the occasional input, although not logical input. It was nice to be able to put my 0.02 USD into conversation for a little while because at the end of the night I couldn't even get a word in.

So, onto the weekend, now why didn't I do any hobbying you ask? 3 reasons:

1. Friday, I went home from work and had to go to a talk about F1 technologies with the head of the Brawn F1 team, and I received an award at the end of it for my college work, so I got to meet the speaker, which was awesome.
2. Saturday, I spent my Saturday organising my new Orc's and Gobbo's army, so technically I did hobby, and I will blog about that army too so keep an eye out.
3. Sunday, Torchlight, a PC RPG, developed by Valve, which is nothing short of amazing, it's like a fusion of Fable and Diablo.... which is what I intended my first child to be like, although there would be some monkey island in there too :P

But hey at least I got stuff organised and had fun, so just to keep you informed also, the last 2 poll results were Bikes and Obliterators, so I am currently ordering 3 Obliterators and 5 CSM Bikes. So remember your word counts and please, keep reading the blog.

Getting The First Word.

So this is something new for you to read over, my first blog based on gaming rather than hobbying, but let me explain the where's/whens and whys of the whole weekend.

I help organise events and tournaments for a local war gaming club called the Northern Knights, I was planning a Planet strike campaign with some other higher ups, and then I thought that we could have an event based on choosing the commanders of said campaign, through a 1000pts singles tournament, a kind of fight for reputation amongst your factions, because at our club it's generally the same 2 guys who are in charge and I thought It'd be a great chance for anyone to take up the responsibility, also this tournament would give me a chance to help some of the newer players learn the basics.

So the tournament was split in 2 sides, the Forces of Order had a tournament amongst themselves to find a Commander and the Forces of Disorder had a tournament to determine their Warlord.

Just like to say for those who can't be bothered reading, that the pictures I took, too few I believe, can be found here: Weekend Photo's

I spent the first hour or two of Saturday with 4 young, relatively new gamers, and using my old tau army and elements of my old marines and some new ones I acquired, to set up a standard 1000pts game and ran them through it. Since there were 2 actual tau players amongst them they assumed those roles and the other two players (one was SM and the other IG) took control of the Space Marines. I gave them the benefit of my experience and taught them how to use the armies to a decent extent as well as any other helpful tips. Also they all went on to play very well and generally do quite well for themselves, just goes to show, with the right words you can achieve anything ;)

Then it was time to Spread the Word! My list was basically comprised of: 1 Chaos Sorcerer, 2 Full Squads of 10 Word Bearers, 9 Thousand Sons, 1 Obliterator and a Dakka Predator (AC, HB's)

My first game was against an old rival, my greatest enemy, and one of my best friends. He is a follower of the Dark God's also, but of a more perverse nature. Slaanesh.
His list was basically, Daemon Prince with Lash, 3 squads of Noise Marines all with Sonic weapons and some Blastmasters, a Defiler and an Obliterator.

This game did not go well, my decision was to let him march to my AP3 weapons and try and wipe him out, I used buildings to keep my marines safe from the Battle Cannon and pick it off with my Obliterator. Sadly this did not work.... the fear of the cannon kept me in position while the sonic/inferno shootout raged, safe to say I didn't weather the storm that well.... thanks to the lash prince. Enough said. I lost this game 6-3 on kill points, but was glad to get something out of it, and only really disappointed in myself, Adrian is a veteran player and very good at what he does, just means I have to try harder next time :D

Disappointed and slightly angry, I turned my rage upon my next opponent, another servant of the Dark Gods. Dave. Yet again a very seasoned player and good friend. His list was roughly: Kharn, 3 squads of 5 Khorne Bezerkers, 1 Obliterator, 1 Defiler and 5 Khorne Havocs.

This game went well for me, I learned from my last game, I can't fear something like a cannon, that's not how we Word Bearers do things, we Attack, Attack, Attack until there is nothing left of either us or our enemies. So I took first turn and prepared to face off against the shootiest/stealthy Khorne I've ever met. I made my priority the Defiler/Havoc's after all charging out to those was not a great idea, after enough AP3 shots and some focused fire on the defiler, I was clear to flush the lurking Khorne out of the buildings they were hiding in. Only to find them try to counter charge me when I got close but fortunately he didn't quite reach me and I was free to gun them down, although my Predator was popped :( The only survivor of the Khorne forces was Kharn, who had stayed in the same building not moving all game, unfortunately I didn't get enough time to bring him down, so he escaped to slaughter another day. My first victory with I think 7-1 on kill points.

That was my day wrapped up, I had 3 more opponents to face on Sunday, (2 Nid armies and 1 Dark Eldar force.) but I decided to rest up and head to the pub with the guys. Hilarity ensued.

Sunday carried on smoothly, although my head was not, my first game of the day was against Mitchell, a Nid player with a decent amount of experience under his belt, his list was roughly: 1 Tyrant with Tyrant Guard, 3 squads of 20 Termagaunts, 2 squads of 3 Warriors and a Carnifex. (I think.)

Now Nids is an army I fear greatly, I think everyone does to an extent, but a lot of my most memorable and enjoyable games have been against them. So I knew in my experience the best thing to do was aim for the synapse. After a few turns of stationary shooting most of the synapse were gone and the Termagaunts began fleeing, this instinctive behaviour however did nothing to save my poor predator, the Carnifex (only other unit left) charged my predator and mauled it in a melee of pure destruction, (6 penetrating and 2 glancing hits.) He then managed to reach some of my word bearers but they managed to scrape a wound or two from him and fled, however they managed to rally and gun the final wound from him at the end, meaning yet again.
A victory on kill points can't remember the total however.... the predator now feels like a cursed unit for me as it's survived nothing so far :P

Next I moved on to face..... more nids..... damn..... I love nids.
So my next player was one of the youngest players on the Forces of Disorder, Brodie, now I have one thing to say about him. For his age, he is one of the most accomplished gamers I've played against, and I would have no shame if he'd annihilated me, at one point I was pretty sure he was going to. Brodie's list was roughly, very roughly: 1 Hive Tyrant with 2 Tyrant Guard, 1 Carnifex, 3 Warriors, 1 squad of Genestealers, 2 squads of Termagaunts and a hoarde of ripper swarms, think it was a squad of 9 or 10.

This was a fun game, my table was very open in the middle making his run to reach me very costly, after wiping out the shield of genestealers around his tyrant and fex, I focused my fire power on the hive tyrant and guard, eventaully wiping them out in turn 2 or 3, this just left me the task of fighting to through the swarms protecting the warriors, removing the last of the synapse. After more shooting from all my army at the rippers, one ripper swarm base was left with one wound and 3 Termagaunts hid behind a forest surviving trying to save a kill point. I made an effort to flush them out, but in doing so my Predator became immobilised. A victory again wih all my units still standing and losing no kill points, I didn't think things could get any better. I think this was a 6 or 7 kill point win can't remember.

My last game of the day was against Eoin, another very young member who usually plays quite well, roughly the same age as Brodie, he was using a Dark Eldar list, his list was: 1 Archon plus Incubi Retinue, Raider with 10 Warriors, 3 Squads of Warriors, 8 Wyches, 1 Talos, think that was it.

This game went very well, I managed to use my first turn to pop the raider and wipe out the squad of wyches, whilst the dark eldar set their dark lances into a better position I tried to take the fight to the enemy, but my predator became shaken in the process. The turns to follow were purely a Wych hunt (see what I did there) I managed to successfully hunt the rest of the warriors down and execute them. The Talos eventually fell to a combination of Obliterator fire and AP3 weaponry. Leaving the Dark Eldar wiped out, and my Predator no longer shaken, meaning I'd not lost a single model or kill point. This is to date the best I've ever done in a game, but I'd like to give credit to Eoin, he was generally unlucky with the dice gods (his archon even Overdosed on drugs and lost a wound) and didn't have as much cover as he'd probably have liked to utilize.

So 4 Wins, 1 Loss, 0 Draws and what came out to 28 Kill points in total, taking me 5 Kill points above Adrian, who came 2nd even though I'd lost to him.... and Dave came 3rd Even though he beat Adrian, weird how it works out. So anyways I was labelled the Commander of the forces of Disorder. Huzzah, This Dark Apostle couldn't have been any more pleased.

The forces of order commander for the planet strike turned out to be a very good friend Dominic and his Daemon hunters army. (a Pure Grey Knights Force by the way). With another close friend Niall coming second with his shiny new Space Wolves.

So overall a great weekend and learning experience for my Word Bearers and our club members, all of which were fun and enjoyable so thanks to everyone who showed up and get ready for Planet Strike my evil minions ;)

My next unit will be posted soon so please keep reading the blog and thanks to everyone at the weekend, I'd say more about it but to be honest my memory sucks and this blog is long enough :P

Blue Days.

Hey everyone, I've returned, and trust me I've been busy to a decent extent but lets just go over a few things first.

Every day I go to work, roughly get there for 7:30 am, the first thing I do, is pick up my blue highlighter and mark on my little calendar that I made it to work that day, then I knuckle down and then get on with it. If I did a similar thing for my warhammer projects...... I wouldn't have many blue days.

My excuse this time is actually due to Green Day. (Took me a while to think of a gimmick for this post, worked well huh?)

So I was away for a 5 day weekend with some mates to see Green Day live in concert at the Glasgow SECC. People wonder why I don't seem to get a lot done, but when you have the opportunity to see stuff like that, why work right? I've not blogged on this due to the fact it drives away from my hobby blogs, also because this blog done by a friend is much better than I can do, so check it out here! (Also this guy got me the tickets for my birthday and hope he realises the ridiculous amount that meant to me, Also a mate asked for a shout out on this blog so....... Hey Alana!)

So since I've last been in touch, I've managed to complete my first full squad of Word Bearers, this squad is one of my 'Hammer' squads, basically it carries 2 Melta's and an Aspiring Champion with a Power Fist, so I can tear apart tanks or elite units easier.

Check them out here: Full Word Bearer Squad!

Also just to prove that my polls are making their impact, here is the constructed photo's of the Predator, you voted I should buy and equipped with the weapons you told me to equip (Autocannon, Heavy Bolter Sponsons) check that out here: Predator Built!

I'll be in touch again soon with this squads completed rhino, also I'll be buying a squad of Chaos Bikers at the next available point, so thanks for voting! so please keep reading/voting and remember Spread the Word!

Death's Song.

Hey guys, just a quick post to say not to expect much of a blog this week, kinda busy/down this week.

The polls came in last week, my next cult troop for my Word Bearers force are indeed the Slaanesh Noise Marines, so I went out and got myself the conversion kit and a squad to give it to, but obviously I'll only be using 6 of them, so I don't know what the other guys may be used for yet, probably some conversion or alternate Aspiring Champions in my squads so I can change weapons etc easier.

In some weird way I guess it's kinda fitting that Noise Marines were the choice, As i've just spent the last hour making up a cd for a funeral. My dear old Nana Rose, passed away on friday, (hence why i'm on a bit of a downer.) So I guess these Noise Marines will kinda be in her honour I guess, they'll always let me remember one of the nicest people I've ever met or will probably ever know. If you can't tell, I'm not good when it comes to deaths in real life, especially when it's someone so close to my heart, so I'll just end this rather sad note by saying that I hope she's resting peacefully and that she'll never be forgotten.

So anyways my next poll is up and I'll try and post my first squad of word bearers and rhino at some point soon-ish.

On a slightly happier note, I spent my weekend playing Necromunda with all my mates at our local club, with some hilarious stories and pictures to tell, but i'll post those another time, least I've got an excuse this time rather than my general sloth :P

Games Day UK 09!

I know I know, about time right, anyways I'm gonna give you a rundown of my weekend as a whole rather than just the Games Day bits, as the whole thing is pretty Warhammer related, it also saves me having to blog elsewhere. (2 birds, one stone eh? better than 2 girls, 1 cup right? xD)

The photo slide show of the whole weekend are available and basically are in order so reading this and looking at them should make sense. Games Day Uk Photo's

Friday 25th September: Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

I awoke up at roughly 6am on Friday, you take a look at the first photo now and you'll understand why, I was sure Jinky was more excited than me but then at 6am who the hell can be excited? :P

After a hearty breakfast (Toast and Irn-Bru (the Irn-Bru is important due to England's lack of it)), I finished packing up, trying to be as space efficient as possible as I intended on filling that bag to the brim with goodies. Anyways with my bags packed, stomach full and Dog somewhat confused and excited I headed to the glorious travel centre of the Highlands (Wick Airport).

Here me and Adrian met up with Alex, and we boarded our almost private plane to Edinburgh. It was nearly private due to the fact so few people were on it, although not that private as that was possibly the single loudest plane I've ever been on, not to mention I was still vibrating when I got off of it. We arrived in Edinburgh to find one of the most fascinating things we have ever seen, a Ben and Jerry's machine oh and we saw the guy from Jurassic park (the guy in white suit and hat). After the relative excitement and a few 'Are you looking forward to Games Day?' jokes, we were on our way to glorious Birmingham.

Mission Accomplished! We arrived soundly in Birmingham and after a small but confusing monorail journey we discovered another to add to our party, Chilly and his finely styled hair ^^

Gentlemen, like Gentlemen the first thing we did on arrival to our hotel (Holiday Inn Express) we headed to the pub next door, The Little Owl. After a decent feed and a large portion of alcoholic beverages and awaited for the final member of the party, Bremy. Upon arrival, we continued to drink and met some interesting people from England including some random guy called Luke Abberely and a nice waitress called Heather who wouldn't let us take a photo of her or let Chilly bed her.... damn shame really, blog would have been a bit more interesting if I'd had photo's like that ^^

After all that, we headed to bed, eager to get up and go through to Nottingham for a trip to Warhammer world, and so the weekend kicked off.

Saturday 26th September: Warhammer World, Bugmans Brew and Orkses too.

On Saturday we awoke to a fine breakfast meal, It was your usual help yourself type set up, so of course we filled our boots, but for some Chilly nicked my toast, regardless of the ample amount that was available, I nearly died of starvation later...... not cool man.

We then caught our train through with relative confusion, I'll never understand British Rail, then again I can't complain I don't understand most things. So our hour long trip on the train consisted of us, fighting like children, cracking a few jokes about one of our mates sister (intercourse.), and relatively talking about the hobby and planning on all the crazy crap we'd buy the second we'd get there. After a small trip through Beeston we were there, if you can't see the hilarity in a name like Beeston your probably a good bit more mature/English than us (the accent makes it hilarious.)

We arrived and found Warhammer relatively easily, I also found out on the way I was paid on Friday..... more money.... more crap to buy. Much like any respectable hobbyists on our arrival to Warhammer World we were immediately drawn into.... Bugmans Brewery. (Priorities people :P)

So we spent the day viewing the exhibits, talking to other gamers and staff, and generally having a good time, seeing the model museum makes me feel both impressed and sad..... my efforts seem so crap now :P The actual scale Space Hulk Storm Bolter impressed me muchly by the way. After our wander round, we had our meal, which seemed like the longest anyone has ever waited for food, so while we waited we continued to look around and Adrian bought the Ork codex for 40k and I left my mark in the Guestbook in the museum (check photo's). Adrian was one of the people who got me back into the hobby, he's been bored with his pursuit of pleasure (Slaanesh Army) and decided he'd start something new, he'd been eyeing up the Eldar for a while, something he's always wanted to do, so he bought the Ork Codex. If that doesn't make sense to you then I've little else to say but..... lol.

After another worried phone call to our Gaffer (Dave) about Games day tickets and online booking we headed back to the railway station and got some Purple rain in Wetherspoons and played some Time Crisis, as you do at the station these days. After which we headed back to the hotel and continued to dram and Chilly attempted to once again allure a fine young wench with his clearly romantic repertoire and subtlety (of a thrown brick, on fire with a knife attached.)

Anyways later after a few more drams, we retired to My/Adrian's room, had a bit of banter, fought over a bed and tried to sober Alex up, if you'd like more information there is a video of this I may post later ;)

Sunday 27th September: Games Day UK, Stupid Questions and Scrap Daemon!

The day of reckoning was finally upon us, after a sharpish breakfast and a shuttle bus through to the NEC, we were at Games Day, about 2 hours early, but that put us in amongst the first 100 or so people into the event. So straight away we tackled the Forgeworld stands, and other sale stands, the rest of the day was spent seeing the various exhibits, entering the Scrap Daemon competition to make a chaos champion. I couldn't find any Chaos bits so I made a wounded Space Marine Standard Bearer, check him out, he's a sneak peek of my next project ;)

I proceeded to buy some Space Wolves stuff for a mate, (Wolf Pack and Termies) as well as Space Wolf t-shirts for both of us. I also bought my Predator, a random box of blisters for a £5, an extra Games Day figure, a Death Korps commissar from FW and thanks to a rather attractive girl at the White Dwarf stand a subscription to White Dwarf. I'm weak ;). I'd explain a lot more of what happened but I think the pictures say more and this blog is already pretty large. Oh I met James Swallow too, my favourite Black Library writer and he signed my Eisenstein :)

I'd planned on buying more (Warhound Titan) but the queues were ridiculous and hard to get around so I just set myself the task of seeing the exhibits and games, and just immersing myself in the culture rather than blowing all my money, after all I can do that from home xD

Anyways, we concluded Games Day with more Purple Rain and saw Chilly off...... the trip was coming to an end..... Sad Days.

Monday 28th September: 4am? There's such a time?

Honest to god, I did not know there was a 4am..... but the real question is why.... who'd want to be up at this crazy time? Well us really, because we had to book in 2 hours before our flight. After a rather sleepy set of flights and a full read of the new White dwarf we were home, and I had one last gift to give, a Relentless Shot to Adrian for the drive home...... to keep him awake and just to see what would happen to him. With that sugar induced car ride, I was home, it was midday, I open the door to the house and sure as eggs is eggs, Jinky was waiting for me along with the tattered remains of the box holding the GW stuff I'd ordered pre-games day.... fun times xD

Sorry to have rattled on, as I say this could have been much longer, but I'll let the pictures do the talking for me. Thanks for reading and I'm currently getting to work on the Word Bearers as we speak. So keep an eye out for a new blog soon.

I'm Late!

Hey, just a quick update, no I'm not dead, I'm just running a little late is all.

Basically, I got home on monday about mid-day, I was then put on night shift, so I had to go to work at 7, and I'm on it for the next 12 days...... which sucks.

So I'll try and do my Games Day blog as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow If I get the chance.

Thanks and sorry dudes!

Thousand Son-ic Unleashed!

Howdy again folks, sorry for the delay on these, I know you've all be on the edge of your seat waiting to see these...... (sarcasm lol, hard to do properly on the internets.)

So anyways, my full painted squad of Thousand Sons are now fit to join the host, and I bet your saying 'about damn time', well you'd be right, I've had a rather lazy week, I bought Sonic Unleashed for £10, because it's not a game I'd have paid full price for..... or so I thought.... it's not a bad game really, bar the werehog bits.... which are a bit sucky but still good. The normal Sonic levels are great and really fun to play, think SA2B but with better graphics.

Anyways I digress, The pictures can be found here: Thousand Sons

Also just a quick note, the poll is in on my Predator weapons poll, and thankfully the one I wanted to win, did win (I didn't rig it, I'm Impartial......) so my new Predator will be equipped with the Autocannon as the main weapon and carry Lascannon Sponsons. So thanks for that guys and keep an eye out for my next poll.

My next step is to start painting my actual Word Bearer Marines (troops) so they've already begun, as we speak I'm mid way through painting a squad of 10, about to start model number 8, my plan is to paint a squad of 10 at a time, then do their Rhino, then move on to the next squad and rhino, this way I won't get bored/lose interest, but anyways I wouldn't expect to see them until late next week as I'll not be here this weekend..... I'll be at Games Day UK!

So expect a full rundown of my trip to Birmingham and Games Day UK on Monday/Tuesday dependant on my health/location.

Magma Man Defeated!

For those who didn't read my last blog 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' (shame on you lazy people) I started a minor conversion to make a Skull Champion for my Berzerker squad.

I even posted a sneak peek, not much of a conversion I know but still, the idea was to get kharn and paint him up nicely to be my skull champion, to replace the magma-man looking berzerker I first painted to be the skull champion, who was in all honesty a bit of an epic fail.

So rather than just have Kharn I decided to modify him a little so people wouldn't ask or say to me in game, are you using Kharn!!!? So I took the rather spiffy looking Chainfist from the lord sprue and attached it to my little friend (Kharn, not my... never mind), modified it a little and bamf, there was my Skull Champion.

So I just thought I'd stick these pics up before people get confused or wonder whats going on in this blog, basically magma man is dead and my new Skull Champion gets to go kill some other robot masters. (Classic Vidya'ing this week so apologies for poor jokes.)

My Skull Champion and his full bloody squad here: Skull Champion

Next on my agenda is to finish the Thousand Sons squad, only one to go so expect them sometime soon, not today, today I'm going to play some Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King for the PS2 (Classic Vidya) and chill after a hard days work. I'm glad you couldn't see my face when I typed that.

Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Well it's here folks, the moment of truth, the pictures of my fully painted unit of Khorne Bezerkers.

Was it worth the hype.... probably not but I like them. I've decided to go with the traditional paint scheme rather than Lava-man shown before. I've decided that lava-man will be replaced with a model I'll convert to be the skull champion, although he isn't finished yet, there is a sneak peek of the new skull champion in that album.

Sneak Peek!
So without further ado, : Khorne Bezerkers

Enjoy and remember, Blood for the Blood god, please post other bodily fluids to Nurgle.

Back from the Pred!

Howdy folks, been a long time I know, but I can and will explain.

Been working some overtime the last wee while so that's kept me pre-occupied as well as some other more personal problems..... also a large part of it was my general sloth. Sorry guys xD

But I'm back and I've been busy, as you'll see over the next 2-3 days as I post my finished Bezerker and Thousand Sons Squads. So I'm not completely lazy, just very lazy.

Also for anyone who hasn't played Arkham Asylum, go play it, you may then understand why I haven't blogged the last few days! So Gooooood man.

Anyways back to the point at hand, the poll is in.

I asked you to vote for what should be my next addition to this word bearers force and the poll reveals: The Predator. So I'll be picking up a Predator asap.

So thanks for your support and please watch this space for my next completed units.

Blood for the Word Bearers!

I know it's a bit unusual for there to be khorne bezerkers in the ranks of the Word Bearers, after all we worship all the gods, not just one in particular, but I'm used to battling all the various pantheons of the dark gods, I've played against Nurgle, Slaanesh (with little success ^^), Tzeentch and Khorne alike, and I've always loved how each troop type looks and plays and with this army thats what's important to me. The look.

So I've decided to purchase one of each of the troop types (i.e: Thousand Sons, Khorne Bezerkers, Slaaneshi Noise Marines and Plague Marines) and I've decided to stick to theme also by keeping their squad numbers equal to that god's favoured number, although I think the boxes make you do that anyways, Lazy old me ^^

So, I'll end this by sharing a piece of advice when you go to paint anything...... keep it simple....... seriously, I've spent countless hours the last few nights trying to get the look I want and I'm still not happy and the fact I now have to paint 7 more of the fethers to look like him scares/saddens me xD

Check it out for yourself, apologies for the poor photo's best I can get, also he's not 100% finished there will be touch ups, but anyways the first of my Khorne Bezerkers, bursting with the rage of a volcano, although the more I look at it the more it looks like leopard spots :(

Terminator Squads.

Well, I know it seems like i've loaded up a lot today, but this is actually the work of the last 2 weeks or so, so don't be that impressed. (or expect me to update this much every week) ^^

The next on my hit list were my Terminators, after all, my HQ's couldn't go it alone now could they?

Again a new kit since the release of the newer Chaos Space Marine Codex, and again an overall success with the exception of one thing.... Lightning claws.... I miss lightning claws , but thats just me being picky as per usual I guess. The kit doesn't allow for too much modification from normal chaos terminators but hopefully I'll be able to spruce mines up a bit with some purity seals and other cloth bits to add to the whole word bearers theme.

I digress, you can find the terminator pictures in the same place as my Lord/Sorceror, for those who didn't read the last blog it was there, go read it now! ^^

But if you are too lazy to read it here: Terminator Album

Terminator Lord/Sorceror.

As I said before I'm new to this whole thing, I'd hoped I could get a photo album type thing up on this blog but apparently not, only one or two pictures at a time without looking silly. So I've put all my photo's into a Photo Bucket album and I'll be making albums for each of my units as I go to save confusion.

I decided to start with my Sorcerer/Lord first as they will be my HQ's most of the time, and every great army has to have a rather sexy commander at it's helm. So I've spent the last few days working on them. While I'm at it I'm going to say my piece about the actual kit as well, probably not that interesting I know but hey, it makes me look like I know what the hell I'm doing right? ^^

So with these kits you get a stylish choice of weaponry and additional bits of kit to make your terminator lord/sorcerer stand out from the crowd, and with this kit it's easy, the ample amount of choice you get and variations are outstanding and the quality of the pieces themselves are great, not to mention you are left with plenty of spare bits. A much greater success than the old models anyway..... I mentioned above I hate resin..... well I hate metal too :P

I'll also take the chance to apologize for the quality, best I can get at the moment, So without further ado, here is the album link for my terminator lord/sorcerer: Terminator Album

Beginnings.

As you've read already, I've started already, so this blog is a little out of date, but it's time to get you up to scratch with what I've been doing.

I started by buying a Chaos Renegade Strike Force, which contains: A Chaos Space Marine Lord, a Chaos Space Marine Terminator Squad, two Chaos Space Marine Squads, two Chaos Space Marine Rhinos, a Chaos Space Marine Land raider, a Chaos Space Marine Vindicator and a Defiler.

I then went and picked up another Chaos Marine Squad and another Rhino.

A few weeks later, whilst this all remained lurking in a large cardboard box like Solid Snake, I ordered up a Forge World Word Bearers Dreadnought and some Word Bearers Rhino and Land Raider doors. Also I managed to blag a Bandeblade from a friend of mines, Apocalypse games.... here I come ;)

The last few weeks I've spent building all of these.... except the dreadnought.... me and resin have a history... as you come to find when my dreadnought blog is full of caps lock and casual swearing ^^

Check out 'The Tome' for updates on what I have and my polls to help me pick my next units.

Thanks and remember..... Spread The Word!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog site, this is all a bit new to me so apologies if it's pretty dire ^^

I've been war gaming for the past few years and have gone through a big quantity of armies and gaming systems, my regular games are 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, Lord of the Rings, Necromunda, Inquisitor and Blood Bowl.

I've played a fair number of armies, more than I'd care to admit, but this time I'm doing something different altogether. My normal line-up when I start a new army....

1) Buy loads
2) Build it
3) Play to death

Now for most people there would be plenty more steps in there, and that's whats brought me here today.

This time I'm slowing it down, this time I'm going to be converting, themeing, painting and taking every care to make a displayable army I can play with also, give me something to be proud of on both fronts (Gaming and Dispay).

I've decided to go with the Word Bearers legion after reading the Heresy Novels, also because it gives me some good room to play around, I can pick any unit and it's theme as well as giving me some great painting/conversion opportunities.

So watch this space as I struggle through a rather large box of Chaos Space Marines, join me for the highs, lows, even lower lows and rage fits I suffer.

Watch this space....... and Spread the Word!
